After
relinquishing into the depths of Indonesia for the reinvigoration of Rip
Curl's Search expedition, Tip 2 Tip, Dillon Perillo resurfaced for the
4th Annual Malibu Invitational presented by Val Surf.
The event, which amasses both local pros
and legends of the iconic surf area, benefitted the good folks at Therasurf,
who put on an amazing demonstration where kids with disabilities overcame
those obstacles to enjoy the fruits of First Point in Malibu.
Perillo, who was born and bred within a bike's
ride of the legendary pointbreak, went absolutely ballistic on the
final day. With four separate 9.5+ rides, including a perfect 10 in his
semifinal, the stylish regularfoot went on to capture the win and $2k for
his efforts.
However, in the spirit of the event, Perillo
immediately handed the winner's check back to Therasurf. "I am just
stoked someone from Malibu finally won the thing,” laughed Perillo. “I
haven’t won a comp this year so it feels really good. I want to thank
everyone involved and I am handing the winners check over to Jimmy Gamboa
and Therasurf. Those guys are killing it right now.”
Look for Perillo to be back on the Search
in the coming months as well as competing in upcoming Pro Junior and ASP
Star-rated events.
Rip Curl was stoked to be an official sponsor
of the 4th Annual Malibu Invitational, and big thanks to the crew at Val
Surf for their efforts in making this amazing event come to life.
