Sunset Cliffs

December 21, 2005 was one of those maxing California surf days with good weather and I wanted to document a number of different San Diego areas. A starting stop on my hit list was an early A.M. look at the Ocean Beach and Sunset Cliffs area. The tide was quite high but the surf was still pumping in with some impressive sets. This view is the kind of initial sighting that quickens the pulse of any surfer -- a first morning peek through the trees with a big set rolling through (a better eye-opener than coffee, in my book). I was looking to capture that kind of a feeling with this shot. It was certainly how I felt when I was snapping the shutter. The day did turn out to be epic as pretty much every spot that could handle the swell was well overhead and grinding. Very memorable indeed.
