Getting to know the band:
• Signed with Warcon’s Kevin Lyman (creator of Warped Tour and Taste of Chaos) after winning the national 2004 Ernie Ball Battle of the Bands competition.
• In 2004, soon after celebrating their sixteenth birthdays, the guys of My American Heart recorded their debut album. The following year, they were added to the Taste of Chaos bill.
• Claiming it’s all good from Diego to the Bay, My American Heart covers Tupac’s “California Love” on the recent Punk Goes Hip-Hop compilation.
• When recording The Meaning in Makeup, the band became friends with Thursday singer Geoff Rickly, who happened to be working in the same studio. After sitting in on some of My American Heart’s recording sessions, Rickly agreed to be featured on the track “We are the Fabrication.” Talking about the experience, Larry Soliman says, “Thursday started a lot. Geoff is the kind of guy that will be a legend in the scene. It was an honor.:
