Travel. It’s one of the integral aspects of the surf lifestyle. Adventure. Exploration. Discovering new waves. Making new friends and experiencing foreign cultures.
The more distant and exotic the locale, the better the potential for epic, unspoiled surf. The insatiable drive to discover what lies around the next bend of the coast; sure that at the end of that endless, kidney jarring track perfection waits.
Yet those who have spent any time on the road know that surf travel isn’t all stand-up barrels and throwing shakas. There are cancelled flights, lost baggage and broken boards; bad directions, getting lost and broken down rental cars; oppressive heat, lethal bugs and debilitating diarrhea; bad winds, angry locals and getting skunked. Fortunately, when you live in San Diego, returning home can be the best part of the trip.
