With track names like “Hate it Here,” “Leave Me (Like You Found Me)” and “Please Be Patient With Me,” Wilco’s latest studio effort Sky Blue Sky warns the listener upfront: this is an album wherein the ’s silver lining isn thin. Bluesy and wistful, the majority of the songs are light-hearted in melody but heavy in sentiment. Don’t let the overcast theme dampen your mood though., Wilco does know music and has the Grammy to show for it. Jeff Tweedy’s thoughtful songwriting and homage to classic 70s guitar, featuring the talents of diverse guitarist Nel Cline, are reasons enough to make the album worth buying.
