CLIMATE:  Expect hot and humid conditions year round in the southern most country of Central America.  November through April is dry season and May through October is wet season, with consistent storms and showers off and on throughout the day and night.  Dry season winds are favorable and generally offshore.  While the wet season can stay glassy at times, it is harder to predict wind patterns as the storms pass through.  Pacific Panama is blessed with water and air temps in the low 80s all year long.

The Pacific side of Panama has a unique coastline that runs North to South and East to West simultaneously making it the most consistent year round surf destination in Central America.  Islands located off the coast of the Pacific side of Panama are in one of the most wave rich zones in the country.  Many of these islands have been left untouched and mostly unexplored, until recently.

SURF:  Deep water, extreme tide swings and an incredibly rugged coastline with pre-historic jungles that stop at the water’s edge are the norm here.  Surfers whothat explore this Lost Coast will find beachbreaks, reefbreaks, rivermouth setups and slabs IFif  you know where to go andAND  you’re lucky enough to catch the right tide.  The biggest and most consistent surf comes in the wet season, averaging six to ten6-10 foot faces while the dry season surf is usually smaller and cleaner.  Keep in mind these offshore islands can pull in double overhead plus+ surf at any time of the year due to deep water and the wide swell window.

Most of the islands are too far for pangas to access safely and the tricky tides make finding waves on your own next to impossible.  The island chain has literally 20 plus + breaks that the adventurous surfer can have to themselves himself on any given combination of tide, wind and swell.  The beauty of surfing uninhabited islands is that there are no locals, no crowds and clean, clear water.

THE YACHT:  In sails the Lost Coast Explorer.  This 100' motor yacht, is the only live aboard boat on the west side of Panama that offers surf specific trips to the most remote reaches of the outer island chain of southwest Panama.  And they do it in style.  The crew aboard this plush yacht, has done all the work for you.  Having spent the past few years uncovering and surfing some of the most hidden waves in the area they are ready to share their experience with Quiksilver Travel.  The Lost Coast Explorer will get you to the best surf for your needs, feed you incredible meals and shuttle you back and forth from the “mother ship” to the surf spots in their two speedy aluminum surf pangas with 200 horsepowerhp engines, board racks and comfortable seating.

When they aren’t taking you surfing, the crew of the Lost Coast will make sure you are having a good time catching tTuna, sSnapper or even bBlack mMarlin at the Hannibal Bank.   And don’t bother to bring your snorkel gear, because they have it waiting for you onboard.  A trip on the Lost Coast Explorer is a unique and special experience that you will never forget.

LOGISTICS:  Non-stop flights from NYC and LAX to Panama City operate daily and generally cost between $550 to -750.  Lost Coast Explorer offers packages beginning at seven7 nights for $2,100 per person which include round trip transportation from airport, accommodation, three meals daily, beer and surf.
