Surfing La Jolla 10/22/06

If patience is a virtue then San Diego surfers are a pillar of that faith. After waiting for close to 3 weeks, this south swell hit with rewards and accompanied by random Santa Ana winds.

This was the type of wave, when you are on a trip, that everyone spends alot of time considering if it is makeable. Eventually a brave few will paddle out and attempt the drops. For the guys riding it today it is a religion that must be fulfilled each time it breaks. This group of surfers don't just try to make drops. They surf this random wave with confidence.

It took a bit of time to let the tide get just right. It allowed for some of La Jolla's best young chargers to find their way to the treasure. Riders such as Ryan Bracker, Micah Anderson, Ian Rotgins, Derek Dunfee, and a couple unidentifieds slowly felt the calling.
