The Legends Surfing in the 2009 UCSD Longboard Luau at Scripps Pier

One of the greatest parts of the UCSD Longboard Luau is the participation of The Legends of Surfing History.   These are some of the pioneers of our sport that have paved the way for the boards we ride, waves we have discovered, surfed in the 1st contests, or starred in the Surf Films we watch today..

In this set of photos you will see Legends of Surfing such as:

David Nuuhiwa, Jock Sutherland, Robert August, Linda Benson, Reno Abellera, Robert "Wingnut" Weaver,
Denny Aaberg, John Peck, Mickey Munoz, Peter Townend, Skip Frye, and others..

It is an absolute privleage to be witness and swim in the water taking photographs of these Surfing icons.

These legends still flow and ride with a souful symbiotic relationship between them and the waves,
which in most cases, have been formed over 40 years or more of surfing.
