San Diego, CA – April 19, 2007. The City of San Diego has long been known for its weather, hospitality, and beautiful coastline, earning the title of "America's Finest City." Forever ingrained in the nation's memory is the tragedy of 9/11. The actions taken by the firefighters will be remembered and honored for generations to come. After considering various ways to help and to remember those in need, The Firehouse Brewing Company was founded with the intent to give back to deserving firefighters and their families. A portion of the proceeds from The Firehouse Brewing Company are donated to Firehouse Foundation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. This foundation assists the families of firefighters who have died or been seriously injured in the line of duty. In addition, Firehouse Foundation aids in buying safety equipment for local fire departments in each county the beer is available.
The flagship beer launched in November 2004, Firehouse American Pale Ale, is on draft in over two-hundred bars and restaurants throughout San Diego County. This beers deep amber color and full bodied complex character present subtle spicy flavors with minimal after taste. Contrary to the bold and complex flavor of the American Pale Ale, the brewery moved on to release the Firehouse Hefeweizen in July 2006. This smooth and refreshing unfiltered wheat beer suggests a hint of tropical fruit, while balancing a light, crisp flavor with superb cloudiness.
