ISA Individual Scholarship Program

The International Surfing Association (ISA) is proud to announce the new Individual Scholarship Program. Five $1200 scholarships will be awarded to Junior surfers worldwide. The ISA currently sanctions an annual World Junior Surfing Championships for athletes ages 18 and under who are the top ones in each country and are selected by the ISA member federations to become members of their National Teams. The ISA hopes to increase the potential for similar experiences in surfing, by selecting five inspirational individuals, who will personify stories of goodwill on how surfing can change the life of a person.

The Individual Scholarship Program's main objective is to provide funds to facilitate an experience in surfing while encouraging the importance of education. Applicants must submit a report card or academic record of the last two years of grades to be eligible for a scholarship. The money can be used to travel to surf contests, buy new equipment and can also be used to foster a surfer's education. Additionally, the program offers added incentive for national surfing federations to send teams to ISA events furthering the reach of surfing as scholarship recipients can use the experience to become better surfers, potential national champions, even possibly world champions all the while continuing with their education.

The ISA will select recipients of the Individual Scholarship based on their application and ability to demonstrate why they deserve one of the five scholarships. To be eligible for application individuals must be 18 years of age or younger and must be a member of an ISA National Governing Body.
