BUSTIN’ DOWN THE DOOR:
During the winter of 1975 in Hawaii, surfing was shaken to its core. A group of young surfers from Australia and South Africa sacrificed everything and put it all on the line to create a sport, a culture, and an industry that today is worth billions of dollars and has captured the imagination of the world. With a radical new approach and a brash colonial attitude, these surfers crashed headlong into a culture that was not ready for revolution.
Surfing was never to be the same again.
Featuring Wayne ‘Rabbit’ Bartholomew, Mark Richards, and Shaun Tomson BUSTIN’ was filmed on the North Shore of Oahu, Hawaii. Narrated by Academy Award Nominee Edward Norton, the film showcases archival surf footage from 1970’s films including Free Ride, Many Classic Moments, Five Summer Stories, Tubular Swells and more. Among the many notable surfing legends and pros interviewed in the film include Ian Cairns, Peter Townend, Michael Tomson, Tom Curren, Kelly Slater, Rob Machado and many others. The film has a driving period soundtrack that includes The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Queen and others.
“There have been thousands of documentaries made about the sport of surfing over the years, but Bustin’ Down the Door may contain the best told story of them all.”
Bill Sharp - former editor of Surfing Magazine and founder of the XXL Big Wave Awards
“I watched Bustin’ Down the Door and have a new opinion on what is the best surf documentary ever made.”
Chris Cote – Editor in Chief Transworld Surf
