The 3rd Annual Art Gala

The San Diego Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation did a great job on the Annual Art Gala fundraiser event once again. The 3rd Annual Art Gala was held at the beautiful Del Mar Power house. The event had a great setup, with great food, beer, wine and beautiful people enjoying the great Surf Art items donated for the silent auction.

There were 51 items in the silent action from the following artists and photographers: Codrin Blosiu, Dave Boeh, Art Brewer, Roger Chandler, Aaron Chang, Todd Copper, Jack Davis, Paul Elder, Jeremy Farson, Meegan Feori, Rob Gilley, Leroy Grannis, Jennifer Guerin, Greg Gutierrez, Jeep Hardinge, Dave Holmberg, Nathan Horner, Karen Howard, Chris Humbard, Lincoln Jay, Tom Keck, Stephen King, Sterling King, Sean Kirkpatrick, Wade Koniakowsky, Matuse Larson, Shannon Payne McIntyre, Glenn Martin, Mob Merson, Bill Mosley, Stephen Reich, Kevin Roche, Julie Rofman, Scott Saw, Al Scholl, Kevin Short, Emily Smith, Bill Wechter, Christina Wedell, Ken Winfield, Paul Brent, Patrick Withey and Wyland. It was really nice to walk by the great settings of the Power House to enjoy wonderful wave paintings, amazing surfing pictures and great sculptures.

It was a great sunny afternoon. The event started at 6:00PM with the reception, silent auction and entertainment from Bedhead Blonde band. At 8:00PM, after a gorgeous sunset, introductions were made and this year's awards were presented: Jesse Billauer, from the "Life rolls on" foundation presented a great movie showing the great work the Life rolls on foundation is doing towards raising money that goes directly towards
spinal cord injury research and public education. This year special Water "Woman" award was given to Isabelle "Izzy" Tihanyi from Surf Diva. Izzy has always been a great supporter of the Surfrider foundation and she always helps spread the Aloha spirit for our clean waters by passing
this important message to thousands of students that learn how to surf every year at the Surf Diva surf school in La Jolla. After the awards
and presentations, the auction was closed, great dessert and coffee was served and people kept enjoying themselves with the sound of the Del Mar
waves crashing on a calm wind evening with a beautiful moon and stars in the sky.
