La Jolla YMCA Surf Series

La Jolla, CA - Think Surf Contests, think La Jolla YMCA! The La Jolla YMCA's annual Championship Surf Series sponsored by No Fear has started. The series held it's third contest of the season at La Jolla Shores on November 13, 2004. With more than double its participants from the past events, this contest proved to be a success! Through the occasional rain and cold weather, surfers from all over San Diego and North County gathered in the water to catch the crisp waves of the day!

Nick Hastings (11), this month's Featured Serf Series Surfer, came in first in the Grom Division, totaling his overall points at 3720. In second place was a new surfer to the series, Ried Hollen (11) and in third place was Ryan Rosen (12). Currently in the overall Grom standings Hastings holds on strong to the first place position with Michael Delegge (11) in 2nd with 2860 overall points and Britt Galland Jr in third with 2391 over all points!

All contests are points rated and trophies and prizes from local sponsors are awarded at each contest, plus insane overall prizes awarded at the end of season banquet. Contests are geared towards entry level surfers, giving them experience in the contest environment, thus preparing them for bigger contests like the NSSA. Come check out the No Fear Championship Surf Series Contest hosted by the La Jolla YMCA on December 4th in Mission Beach at San Fernando Place.
