The Kona-California Scholarship Concert - 08/26/2007
The Kona-California Scholarship provides awards of $500 and $250 to two students who will study full time in California in the semester following the application period. Seniors and graduates from Konawaena and Kealakehe High Schools who meet these requirements are encouraged to apply. The selection committee will judge applicants based on their potential to pursue life opportunities
in California. The focus will be on honest, ambitious, and unique responses to the essay questions rather than on GPA or financial need.
Both moving away from home and college are expensive. To pay their tuition and living expenses, Travis and Max each used money from family, scholarships, and their own savings. They both worked part-time jobs, and Travis even took out loans to help pay for school. The recipients of the Kona-Diego Connection Scholarship can use its award to help cover any part of their expenses.
The event will be held at the Belly Up Tavern in Solana Beach on Sunday, August 26th at 8:00pm.
Kailua-Kona's own Iration will be playing Hawaiian inspired reggae music throughout the evening...
Our goals with this concert are to increase awareness about the scholarship, raise money for next year's awards, and enjoy ourselves with sweet music at a summertime Sunday soiree.
