A awesome surfing event!!!

The 2000 UCSD Luau and Longboard Invitational was a tremendous success. The event started at 7:00 am on August 27th, 2000, at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography in La Jolla. With fair surfing conditions, legends and competitors showed the animated crowd on the beach that the true meaning of surfing is to have fun! The surfing legends were the biggest attractions of the event. Robert August, Skip Frye, Corky Carrol, Rusty Presendorfer were some of the legends that were drawing attention both on the beach and in the water. This year's events also attracted several heavy--weight corporate sponsors such as Yahoo, Ericsson, Qualcomm, Motorola and Silicon Valley Bank.

Besides the excellent surfing presented by legends and competitors, the Luau reception was awesome. The Luau opened at noon with the famous "Coconut Girls" giving a warm welcome to the legends, competitors and special guests. The great food, along with the live entertainment, kept the crowd very animated during the event. In the end, the goal was accomplished! Thousands of dollars were raised for a worthy cause: research for the cure of cancer. Surfshot.com management team would like to thank the legends, corporate sponsors, and volunteers for making this event possible. We also would like to thank Ken Powers, the Chair of this renowned event, for all the hard work. We will see you next year.
