Arballo wins West Coast Championship

On May 12 and 13th the Western Surfing Association held the West Coast State Championships at Churches Beach San Clemente, in 2 to 3 Foot surf. Christian Arballo from Oceanside was one of the top 16 surfers invited to compete in the Boy's 15 and under division.

It was the most exciting final of the day for spectators and the 4 surfers who battled it out for the title of 2007 Boy's WSA 15 and under West Coast State Championship. After a quick start by all 4 surfers only a 5 point margin separated 1st place from 4th and each surfer needing to up there score were left with only seconds to see who would win. The 20 minute heat had a lull of almost 10 minutes leaving 3 surfers with almost no chance of getting the points needed to take over the lead. In the last 4 seconds of the heat finalist Christian Arballo who was sitting in forth place needing a 5.20 to take the lead, paddled in to a head high right and ripped the wave apart, ridding it all the way to shore. As Arballo was working his way up the beach the announcement was made that he scored a 6.5 on his last wave winning him the final and the Title of the 2007 Boy's WSA West Coast State Champion.

Christian who suffers from a life threatening heart condition and who is a spokesperson and Make-A-Wish child was thrilled of his accomplishment. Just 3 days ago he was bed ridden from a sever infection and thought that he would miss the contest altogether. Christian also holds the title of ISF San Diego section Longboard Champion for 2006 and is sponsored by: Stay Covered, Ocean Minded, Solarez, Christian Surfboards, Trunq, WNC, Ten Over Longboards and Make-A-Wish Foundation.
