The Switchfoot Bro-Am surf contest returns to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas on Saturday, June 2, 2007! A yearly event near and dear to Switchfoot’s hearts, the Bro-Am was created to give back to the San Diego community and will again benefit a local children’s charity through funds raised at a pre-event auction night soiree (that includes an acoustic performance by Jon Foreman of Switchfoot), as well as from surf team entry fees, vendors on the beach day-of, and sponsorships. Surfers so far include Tom Curren, Timmy Curran, Switchfoot, and riders representing Surfing Magazine, Transworld Surf, Jedidiah, Atticus, and more. The surf contest will be followed by a FREE concert on the beach that will include performances by The Jade Shader, Timmy Curran, Tom Curren, Years Around The Sun, Alex Woodard, and more, including an acoustic set by Jon Foreman of Switchfoot. In addition, this year we’ve added an afterparty at The Belly Up Tavern to help raise additional funds for Care House, the benefiting charity.

“The Switchfoot Bro-am contest combines three of our favorite things: music, surfing, and San Diego,” says Switchfoot’s Chad Butler. “For the last two years the local community has united to make a difference in the lives of kids who are in situations they should never have to face. This year the support for the 3rd annual event has been overwhelming and it’s exciting that so many people are asking how they can get involved.”

Care House is a San Diego-based nonprofit organization that assists needy children throughout the county, including children living from hotel to hotel, in shelters, or those on the verge of finding themselves back on the street. Care House helps in a variety of ways, offering comfort and hope for brighter days ahead.
