Spot information
Rating: 3.5Bottom: Beachbreak
Wave: Rights off the southside of the pier; other peaky rights and lefts down the beach.
Locals: Be prepared to paddle battle but no one’s going to want to “go to the beach” over anything.
Swells: NW and W (290 to 300 degree reading off the Torrey Pines Outer Buoy)
Skill Level: All
The north side of the pier is less hectic in terms of crowds, but the wave quality suffers. The south side of the pier features a stretch of peaky beachbreaks. Be prepared to be back paddled and get into a few paddle battles. But frustrations aside, the wave is actually pretty fun. Pull in, smack one off the top or hang a cheater five as you slide down the line.
