Swells: NW and W (325 to 330 degree reading off the Torrey Pines Outer Buoy or 265 to 275 degree reading off the Mission Bay Buoy)

The right coming off the jetty is often a favorite wave of many of the local pros. It can produce any variety of wave types, from thick, dredging barrels to steep air sections. Avalanche (the smaller, pseudo jetty) is a meaty left barrel with a right corner coming off the opposite side of the peak. The pier produces a fickle right and a left.
