About Lightning Bolt:

Lightning Bolt, originally founded in Hawaii in 1972 by Gerry Lopez and Jack Shipley, is a collection of men’s and women’s apparel inspired by both original and modern concepts of the world of surfing.  Lightning Bolt’s fashionable and functional collection offers various styles created by a young and experienced team of designers who are inspired by the true spirit of soul surfing and its riders’ lifestyle.

Lightning Bolt is distributed at select high-end and core retailers.  Lightning Bolt’s collection offers a range of high-quality graphic tees, wovens, walk shorts, board shorts, denim and other accessories ranging in price from $31 to $250.  Lighting Bolt’s U.S. satellite office is located in Los Angeles, Calif. and the company remains committed to staying true to its roots with the mentality that surfing is a way of life.

Going into spring 2010 means sticking to basics for Lightning Bolt.   Lightning Bolt will continue to carry its classic styles (based on the original designs from the 70s) while expanding with different fashion-forward colorways; updated high-quality fabrics; and trendy yet subtle new details.  Lightning Bolt prides itself on manufacturing premium goods in the optimal geographic location for that particular garment style.  The collection’s designs are inspired by soul surfing and its riders’ pure and passionate lifestyles.

Most of the Lightning Bolt collection is influenced by the original Bolt riders and what they wore in that era.  The design team mixed those styles and the soul of the original product with updated fabrics ensuring that each piece is created based most importantly on quality and authenticity – created “by surfers for surfers.”
