A son and his father push life to the extremes
Channel Islands Surfboards DEMO TOUR
San Diego, CA, April 21, 2008
Question: What happens when a teenage boy and his Father want to bond?
Answer: They plan an overnight camping trip, cook out and sing campfire songs . . . WRONG!
Way, way wrong as you’ll read.
Seventeen-year old Ryan Krause and his 44-year old dad Bob, from San Diego are ready to set a world record, by doing something they believe has never been done before. In the final planning stages and branded the PUSH, on April 25th 2008 this father and son team will be completing a series of 25 non-stop extreme action sports for at least 10 minutes each, throughout 9 various geographical locations in Southern California. And it will all be completed within an 18-hour window - by traveling over 300 miles by car, van and plane. Thus the name THE PUSH, for their gnarly extreme sports adventure and ultimate Father-Son bonding opportunity. And the kicker … both Ryan and Bob will be completing many of these extreme sports for the very little practice.
What kind of extreme sports you ask? 25 extreme sports – such as street luging, surfing, water related sports, skating, motto and 4-Wheel drive sports in the desert, surfing, dirt boarding and biking, rock climbing and snow boarding will be involved in this odyssey, definitely not for the faint of heart. It all starts in the snowy mountains of Big Bear then they fly to the Anza Borrego Desert and end up at the beautiful shore line of La Jolla.
“It all started when we were driving back from a fun day of ATV and bike riding in the desert” said Bob Krause, proud Father of Ryan, a senior at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego and his two other active children Christine 14, and Braydon 10. “The conversation was about how lucky we are to live in southern California and the cool things you can do while living around here. We talked about how fun it would be to go surfing in the morning, ride motorcycles in the desert during the day, and then hit the slopes at night”, he remarked. And his wife of 20 years DeAnna just sighs and rolls her eyes when she hears Bob recap all that he and Ryan are trying to accomplish.
Bob Krause, founder of a large corporate events production company in San Diego has already planned all of the logistics and arranged most of the required gear, and as long as they avoid any major injuries or delays along the way, everything should go as scheduled. Krause’s relationship with many sports entrepreneurs has paid off, as many different companies have already offered to sponsor them with donated new gear for THE PUSH. Ryan added, “Yeah, this is going to be something my dad and I will never forget and it’s been unreal to see how many people want to get behind us and see thing happen. We keep getting all this cool gear and free demos. It feels like Christmas.
De Anna Krause, wife and mother of these two athletes said, “Some people go fishing or go camping to have fun, but not Bob and Ryan,. I just hope they just come back in once piece and don’t die because I don’t think that our life insurance covers temporarily insanity.”
