Hansen�s Surf Shop to Host Book Signing Party for Surfing in San Diego

The California Surf Museum will hold its second major book signing party for the acclaimed book Surfing in San Diego at Hansen’s Surf Shop, December 8, 2007, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Co-authors John C. Elwell and Jane Schmauss, along with collaborators Woody Ekstrom, Tom Keck, and Lee Louis, will be present at the event, which should prove to be a great opportunity to buy copies of the book and collect signatures. CSM has already invited Linda Benson, L.J. Richards, Mike Doyle, Rusty Miller, Cheer Critchlow, and others who worked and surfed for Hansen’s during the early years. Similarly, San Dieguito area surfers who are featured in the book, including Ron McCarver, Tommy Lewis, Malcolm McCassey, Randy Miller, Danielle Corn, and Diana Brummett, are being asked to attend.   

Don Hansen has promised to pull out all the stops when his venerable board shop hosts the next Surfing in San Diego book signing party. “We will try to gather as many of our former shapers, glassers, and surfers as we can to have a reunion of sorts. Several still reside in the area, and we can try to reach as many others as possible,” said the affable Hansen, who will be in town for the occasion.

Just drop by at Hansen’s Surf Shop in Encinitas (1105 South Coast Highway) on Saturday, December 8, between 2-4:00 p.m., for what promises to be a terrific reunion! All are welcome. Aloha.
