Matt “Matuse” Larson

An LBC native, Matuse Larson has always been a creative whirling dervish fueled by an abyss of intellectual curiosity. Residing in La Jolla since 1998, Larson leveraged his creativity to become a design consultant for the industry's largest labels. Many know him as one of the managers at Mitch's La Jolla. However, he is also co-founder of Matuse, Inc. (ichiban wetsuit maker). And though Larson is anything but cliché, he certainly fits the mold of a renaissance man. In this regard, he's not only an avid photographer, painter and poet but also experienced in jujitsu, spear fishing and charging the Wedge. This month Larson channeled his diverse talents into the boardshort feature. "It was a pleasure to write,” Larson said. “I love surfing’s culture and history -- as well as the sciences that allow us to enjoy our magnificent oceans.''
