The Dish

Let me first start by introducing myself. My name is Kassia Meador, and I’m a pro longboarder currently living in Oceanside. I moved to San Diego just over two years ago. Since I’ve lived down here, I have fallen in love with the waves, people, and just about everything else San Diego has to offer. I think it was Ron Burgundy who put it best when he said it was the greatest city on earth.
There are so many amazing female surfers in San Diego: longboarders, shortboarders, and everything in between. The staff at SurfShot couldn’t help but notice the number of girls ripping, up and down the coast. As the number of female surfers grows, so does the need for female content in magazines. When the SurfShot team came to me and asked if I wanted to help make this women’s section happen, I jumped at the opportunity.
This section is about where women’s surfing is and where it is going.  It is about airs and noserides, music and art, travel and adventure, and the lifestyle we as female surfers live. The guest letter will touch on topics we should know about. The profile piece will give us a closer look at some of the local pros. The style, art, and music section (SAM) will touch on the lifestyle female surfers live and the culture within our sport. And the travel piece will ignite the travel bug in us all.
So, are you excited yet? Because I am. I can’t wait to fill a few pages every month with the best photos, articles, and knowledge San Diego’s women’s surf scene has to offer.  Thanks for reading, and enjoy.
