Charley Stevens

When I was 18 years old I was invited on a trip to Hawaii with several other surfers. I was nearing the end of my days as a grom and it was a relief to see there was a surfer younger than me on the trip. That grom was Charley Stevens, then only 13 years old. You better believe I took full advantage of not being the youngest -- Charley got hung on the back fence by his trunks, hog tied with duct tape on the living room floor, and harassed to the fullest extent of my imagination.
Today, Charley, no longer a grom, is doing more things in surfing than many his age. The 19-year-old surfer from Carlsbad, via Cabo San Lucas, has joined forces with aerial wizards Josh Sleigh and Josh Buran to form the Mob Group, in pursuit of new means for wave riding. Charley has been test piloting their invention, the “Grinch,” a tow device that eliminates the need for a jet ski. Watch out for Charley on the forefront of surfing’s progression.

In 20 years… Keeping it real with the dogs and living large, hopefully with a good family, and always surfing different places. Hopefully I'll be boosting airs until I'm 60.
2007 aspirations… This being my first year out of high school, I look to build my name up to big levels in surfing, successfully get the best barrel of my life and do the best air of my life, and blow up www.mobgroup.tv and the Mob Group grinching tour.
2006 accomplishments… ISF San Diego High School Champion, Carlsbad Surf Team MVP, signed on with Jet pilot as a title sponsor for clothes, ride shorts and wetsuits. Successfully graduated high school without ever going to home school (that was a hard one for me).
