Chris Waring

You can learn a lot about someone just by being around him in another country. Outside of the bubble, personality is broadcasted through actions and reactions. Two years back, I spent a good couple of weeks with HB’s Chris Waring in Spain and the Canary Islands. The then 17-year-old had a cruisey, kick back attitude in and out of the water that made him a pleasurable travel bud in places and situations where a grom's immaturity could turn things sour. Now nearing his twenties, Chris is still the same funny, nice guy. His face is popping up more and more in the world surf scene and he is becoming one of the most well liked surfers on the WQS by his international peers.

2007 highlights: Taking a boat trip with Tom Rezvan to the Mentawaii islands ended up being the best trip of my life after sitting back and thinking about it. Scored some perfect Greenbush... Yeah guy!! Semis in HB, quarters at lowers, two finals in the Pro Juniors.
2008 ambitions: Just trying harder on tour, more free surf trips around the world to somewhere, don’t really care where, but somewhere perfect with just a few of my bros just chillin’ and surfing, gettin’clips and some barrels.

Fav grub: Mexican or Mahi sushi.
Travels: A bunch of places, but Brazil and Indo are my most memorable.
In 20 years: I’ll be 40 doing whatever 40-year-olds do.
