Make A Wave Project 1st Annual Surfathon
Make a Wave Project is holding its 1st Annual Surfathon, a 24-hour non-stop surfing event. They have invited OCEANA to be the sole beneficiary of the fund-raising weekend.
OCEANA is an exceptional non-profit organization that campaigns globally to protect and restore the world's oceans.
The Surfathon is scheduled over a 24-hour period during which participants will surf in a designated area during one or more 3-hour shifts. The non-stop surfing period is scheduled to begin at 12pm on Saturday, September 22nd and to finish at 12pm on Sunday, September 23rd.
Surf participants will raise money by asking people to sponsor their commitment to surf non-stop during their 3-hour shifts. People may also make a tax-deductible donation online at www.makeawaveproject.org through a secure payment link, or send a tax-deductible check made out to OCEANA:

Make A Wave Project was launched by Alex Winston and Tanna Frederick, both avid surfers, who are concerned about the world's oceans. They were inspired to create the Surfathon concept as a fun and rewarding summer weekend venue, bringing together the legendary sport of surfing and beach lovers that want to make a difference. Make A Wave Project is collaborating with a number of generous local and national sponsors which so far include: ZJ boardinghouse, Quiksilver, Val Surf, Rocker Board Shop, The Victorian and LATV which are all helping to make this an exceptional and action-packed weekend.
