Second Place is good.  It keeps you hungry and focused on your goals. While first place can sit back and kick up their heels and get lazy, second place stays hungry, determined, driven.  Just ask Trevor Saunders. “I finished second overall by the closest margin in the NSSA Open Season more times than I can remember,” he said. But that is what keeps him hungry, and keeps him coming back.  Finishing second overall two years in a row in Open Juniors and then two years in a row in Open Mens can keep you starving, but it also demonstrates incredible consistency and talent. Trevor is a Current USA Team Member for the ISA World Junior Games, and is planning on carrying his experience in the amateur events into the Pro Juniors and WQS next year. On flat days he’ll cross-train with some skating, some gym work, and is stoked on riding his bike around town. Maintaining his positive attitude about keeping it fun will keep him driven, because as much as his results speak volumes about his commitment and potential, he is going to keep striving until he achieves that first place position.
