Courtney Conlogue, Winner ASP North America Pro Junior Women’s Series

Courtney Conlogue’s name kept popping up this year as a bona fide member of the “new guard,” an unofficial designation for young females who are changing the standard in women’s surfing. And in October, the Santa Ana surfer beat them all out in Huntington Beach, winning the Girls Under 16 title at the SIMA Surfing America USA Championship and placing second in the Under 18 Final. This past August, Conlogue, 15, also scored a mighty win at the 45th Annual East Coast Surfing Championships at Virginia Beach, finishing off a highly successful run in the 2007 ASP North America Women’s Season. Want more? Conlogue, a four year veteran on the USA Surf Team, also ousted the ‘06 Billabong Sebastian Inlet Pro Junior Champ Sage Erickson in this year’s event, snagging the title herself in March. As the winner of the ASP North America Pro Junior Women’s Series, Conlogue heads to Narrabeen, Australia in January as a favored contender in the Billabong ASP World Junior Championships.
Big Corpo Connection: Billabong, Dakine, Nixon...Toyota of Huntington Beach
Greatest Hits: First place finish at SIMA Surfing America USA Championships, East Coast Surfing Championships at Virginia Beach and Billabong Pro Junior Championships in Florida… just to mention a few recent results.
Red Carpet Moment: Conlogue was awarded a WCT wildcard invitation to compete in the Billabong Pro Maui at Honolua Bay in December of last year. It was nothing short of her coming out party. In triple overhead surf, she made late drops and pulled into cavernous pits. If you didn’t know who the little Californian was before her opening heat, you certainly knew who she was as she exited the water.
Career Lowlight: Dubbed “weekend warrior” by Surfline for not getting wet on school days.
California Roots: Conlogue’s not the only one who wears the wetsuit in the family. Daddy Conlogue’s been surfing for over 20 years, having taught Court how to surf at age four. Little brother Ryan is also a promising competitive surfer.
