But if a decent swell is running, you won’t find The Closer in the office (something his old lady isn’t too keen on). Instead, he’s out hustlin’ to get a shot. "On a swell like Big Wednesday, I take the approach that it’ll be the last chance I’ll ever have to take a photo of that particular wave,” Cummins said. “That's what is so exciting about photography -- when you nail a shot, you know nobody else has that shot. That shot will last forever, while the moment only lasted a few seconds. This past swell I started in IB at sunrise and ended up at The Cove where I shot the biggest outside set I have ever seen hit La Jolla.”
