If you were tuned into surfline during the fires, you were bombarded by shots of perfect Newps. Photo credit Tom Cozad. “I turned my life upside down so I could shoot those two days of the swell from sun up to sun down,” Cozad said. “And while I missed out on surfing some of the best surf I've ever seen in Newport (UUHHGG!), I was able to capture a number of unique images that I'll remember forever. You've got to be extremely flexible to be a California surf photog, because on those rare occasions when the light, swell and wind conditions come together, you've got to drop what your doing, and be on it.”
